Responsibility – Teach Responsibility, the 27th Word in the “good Words" Project
Responsibility – 27th Word In the “Good Words" Project
Jo 'Grace' Goldsmith made it her responsibility to start the "good words project" to inspire her fellow Hubbers to become the best writers they can be.
Grace told me about the project and made a promise to write a poem for each of the good words she gave us.
Responsibility is the 27th good word and it is my responsibility to write a poem for all the good words.

Our responsibility is to practice and live by
Every good word that we know
When teaching our children responsibility
It’s another good word that we sow
Planted in our children
And hope that it will grow
To accept responsibility
That is a good word they should know
To guide them throughout their life
For everything they do
Where ever they may go
I’ve read that William Shakespeare said:
To thine own self be true
When we teach our children
To be responsible for what they say and do
Then they will to themselves be true
And we can show by example
That we too can accept responsibility
Even in the face of shame
We can take responsibility
We can take the blame
I Dreamed a Dream - Several nights ago I had a dream and had to write it down.
I never dreamed about any of the "Good Words" before, but this one I want to share.
I truly dreamed this and will write it in poetic form
Who will take responsibility?

Who will take responsibility
For the words we write or say?
From my dream last night.
As I walked along a beach
On a beautiful sunny day
I came uupon a cabinet
That had been tossed away
Who would toss it here?
Don’t they know that littering is a crime
For which a person can be fined
Who will take responsibility this time?
As I came closer I saw an inscription
An ugly, ugly screed – that I felt compelled to read
Who will take responsibility for the evil things it said?
As I read the inscription, and what was written there
I wondered how they dare
Will they take the blame
Who will take responsibility
For taking God’s name in vain?
The words went out of focus
They all became a blur
Who could think up such profain words?
Who will take responsibility?
For what these words had to say
I only know it is my responsibility
That I must wipe each word away
As I knelt beside the cabinet
And I began to pray
I poured some sand upon each word
And with a stone I began to scrub away
Feeling dampness from beneath
I just had to see
Although I was crying
I knew the dampness didn’t come from me
As I cleaned away the sand
Looking back at me
Were the eyes of Jesus Christ
Replacing all the vile ugly words
And I knew rightt from the start
He was crying for my aching heart
