Who Won the 1st Presidential Debate of 2012? Do You Think the Truth Won?

Updated on June 4, 2019

Do you believe that Romney was truthful in Wednesday's debate?

During the 2012 Presidential debate, President Obama said the economy would not be turned around overnight but, he would work hard for the American people to do it as quickly as possible.

Romney said: The president has a similar view, to the view he had when he ran four years ago!

Why would President Obama have a different message or view from what he ran on four years ago, when he still believes in what he was/is saying?

Here is what Romney says when he thinks only like minds will hear!

Romney Gaffs

Maybe you have seen the secret video before, But, T.J. Walker, contributor to Forbes pointed out the number of gaffs in the secret video of Mr. Romney denigrating 47% of the American people.

T.J. Walker breaks the secret video down and makes it clear what the gaffs are.

Mr. Romney said in the secret video that President Obama vilified him for being rich.

President Obama only pointed out the unethical practices that made him filthy rich.

See if you can catch any gaffs that T.J. Walker missed.

When Romney was questioned about another fib!

Romney said: "Look, I've got five boys. I'm used to people saying something that's not always true, but just keep on repeating it and ultimately hoping I'll believe it. But that -- that is not the case. All right? I will not reduce the taxes paid by high-income Americans."

I heard Romney lie and then say it was President Obama who is lying.

When Mr. Romney mentioned his five sons, this must mean that his sons lie to him over and over again. That tells me those apples did not fall far from the tree. Romney lies, and he implied that his sons lie.

Extension of the Bush tax cuts!

President Obama: "Governor Romney's central economic plan calls for a $5 trillion tax cut -- on top of the extension of the Bush tax cuts -- that's another trillion dollars -- and $2 trillion in additional military spending that the military hasn't asked for. That's $8 trillion. How do we pay for that, reduce the deficit, and make the investments that we need to make, without dumping those costs onto middle-class Americans, I think is one of the central questions of this campaign."

Romney retorted that he does not have a tax cut of a the scale that President Obama is talking about and, he does not have a $5 trillion tax cut.

Tax cuts for the rich!

$5 Trillion Tax cuts?/20% Cut across the board

Romney when pushed for specifics on what he would cut!

Romney said he would cut funding for PBS (Public Broadcasting System), but he loves Big Bird.

I just heard on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell – cutting PBS will gain one, 100th of one percent.

That should bring down the deficit.

Romney wants to kill Big Bird for one 100th of one percent? Or is this some kind of foul, fowl joke?

More of Romney's tax plans!

Why won't Romney/Ryan answer the most basic questions?

If they told us what they intend to do to us before he is elected maybe people would not vote for him.

President Obama said, I want to close those loopholes that are giving incentives for companies that are shipping jobs overseas. I want to provide tax breaks for companies that are investing here in the United States.

Then Romney said/implied in the 2012 Presidential debate that people who ship jobs overseas don’t get tax breaks but, he more than anyone else should know that is not true!

Tax-breaks for outsourcing jobs!

Medicare $716 billion

Mr. Romney: “But on Medicare, for current retirees, he's cutting $716 billion from the program.” Romney’s claim is that it will hurt Medicare, when per FactCheck, the opposite is true.

Me: No wonder Mr. Romney does not want to facts checked.

Without the spending cuts in the Affordable Care Act, the Part A trust fund was expected to be exhausted in 2016. With the ACA cuts, that date was pushed back to 2024.
